I Love You
The final of the 2007 Woodstock Festival, 4:30am, dawn. Under the leadership of Zbyszek Holdys the Academy of Fine Arts band enters the stage, 20 guitarists, 3 soloists and a choir in order to give a concert which should awaken the slightly sleepy Woodstock public.
As soon the first verse ends the crowd, counting several thousand people, sings the chorus of “I love you” along with the band. But the real and unexpected final is yet to come. After the song is finished Jurek Owsiak comes on stage, the band begins to play again and Jurek sings along with everyone! The crowd goes wild!
The preparations for this event began much earlier. On Thursday morning Zbyszek Holdys presented the gathered candidates for the Academy of Fine Arts band with the song “I love you” and chose the most talented guitarists and vocalists. 20 guitarists (of which unfortunately only one girly) received 20 T. Burton guitars for the time of rehearsals and the later concert as well as technical assistance given by the specialists of the KISIELEWSKI company. The guitarists practiced for three days. For the duration of this period they parted with the relaxed atmosphere of Woodstock and submitted themselves to Zbyszek’s demands concerning perfect punctuality and complete abstinence.
The Academy of Fine Arts project showed that if you want to achieve anything in life, if you want to stand on your own “great stage”, there is no need for alcohol, drugs, make-believing or lies, but passion, and hard work, you need to want and act.
The T.Burtons which were present on the big stage will be put up, which seems to have become a tradition, on special auctions for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Of course each guitar holds the autograph of its user from the Academy of Fine Arts band, the autograph of Holdys, Owsiak and also Jacek Spruch, the fingerstyle master which conducted the Frikolekcje (free lessons) on these very T.Burtons in our tent. |
